These easy homemade Croissant Croutons are the perfect balance of buttery, flaky, and crunchy. They take less than 15 minutes to make and are perfect atop a salad or by themselves as a snack.

I first made these toasted croissant croutons because we had a few leftover croissants that were getting stale and I hate to throw good food in the trash.
So I cut the croissants into one inch cubes, tossed them with some seasonings and grated cheese, and tossed them in the oven.
I figured the worst case scenario was they'd come out terrible and end up in the trash anyway. Who knew I was about to create a new family favorite??
Croissants are already buttery and full of flavor so they make the perfect foundation for a crouton. Just add a little olive oil, your favorite spices and seasonings, and some grated cheese and you've got some seriously amazing croutons!
They go great in just about any kind of salad, or just by themselves as a snack. Make them ahead of time and store them in an airtight container so they'll always be handy when you need them.
Air Fryer Friendly
If you don't want to turn on the oven, you can easily bake these homemade croissant croutons in the air fryer. You may need to adjust the temperature based on your specific air fryer, but 350 F should work nicely.

Notes
- These come out best when you use croissants that are a couple days old and kind of stale. It's a great way to use up leftovers that would otherwise go in the trash.
- Experiment with spices and seasonings to figure out which you like best. Dried basil and dried parsley are both good options.
- This recipe also works perfectly with an air fryer!
